Several Miss Universe contestants left a pre-pageant gathering in Thailand following a heated exchange between Miss Mexico Fátima Bosch and pageant executive Nawat Itsaragrisil. The dispute arose when Bosch declined his request that contestants promote the host country on their social media accounts.
“You are in Thailand,” Itsaragrisil said. “You are in a game.”
The livestreamed incident escalated when Itsaragrisil criticized Bosch for refusing to join a photo shoot promoting Thailand, repeatedly pressing her to confirm her cooperation online. Their disagreement grew tense as he accused Bosch of following guidance from Miss Mexico’s team rather than the local Miss Universe organizers, eventually calling her a “dummy.”
When asked why she remained standing, Bosch replied, “Because I have a voice,” adding, “You’re not respecting me as a woman.”
Other contestants reacted by voicing their support for Bosch, prompting Itsaragrisil to summon security and have her removed from the room. As she walked out, Bosch addressed him directly:
“As women, you need to show respect for us.”
The confrontation between Miss Mexico and the Miss Universe executive sparked a walkout by contestants, highlighting tensions over respect, gender, and cultural expectations at the pageant.
