Brantford joins communities across Canada in honoring those who served and continue to serve the country in times of war and peace. Citizens are encouraged to attend and pay their respects on Remembrance Day.
“We encourage members of our community to join us on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, as we remember, with deep respect and immense gratitude, the remarkable sacrifices of others,” said Sharon Sayles, communications advisor for the City of Brantford.
Cadets will hold a vigil on Monday evening from 6 p.m. to midnight, resuming at 7 a.m. the next day. The Brant War Memorial will be illuminated throughout the night as part of the tribute.
On Tuesday, a walking march including veterans, active military personnel, first responders, dignitaries, and cadets will start at Harmony Square and proceed along Dalhousie Street to the War Memorial.
The Civic Service of Remembrance begins at 10:50 a.m. A fly-past by a B-25 Mitchell bomber and an FF46 Firefly aircraft from the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Hamilton is planned, weather permitting.
A John’s College student, winner of a local speech-writing contest, will present her speech titled The Role of Canadian Soldiers in War One.
During the ceremony, the names of one First World War veteran and 22 Second World War veterans, previously identified as missing from the Brant War Memorial, will be honored.
