Capgemini Deploys First Humanoid Robot at Nuclear Plant

Capgemini has launched a groundbreaking collaboration with Orano, a nuclear material recovery firm, marking a significant step in physical AI and industrial robotics. The initiative introduces Hoxo, an intelligent humanoid robot set to operate in the nuclear sector.

Deployment and Testing

Hoxo is currently being tested at Orano Melox Ecole des Métiers in the Gard region of France. During a four-month pilot phase, the robot’s mobility, precision, and AI-based responsiveness will be assessed in real industrial conditions. If the trial proves successful, this innovation may transform the use of automated systems in high-risk environments.

Technological Features

The humanoid robot integrates embedded artificial intelligence and advanced sensors that enable real-time perception, autonomous navigation, and interaction. Its design replicates human gestures, allowing it to assist teams in restricted or hazardous workplaces. Hoxo’s AI foundation leverages Nvidia’s computing infrastructure for pretraining, complemented by Capgemini’s expertise in computer vision and robotics.
