2026 Colonie Budget Proposal
The Town Board has adopted a tentative 2026 budget, proposing a 3.6 percent increase, driven by inflation and infrastructure reinvestment.
The proposed budget of $129,303,597 is up from $124,720,075 in 2025, with a town tax rate 50 percent below the New York State tax cap, according to
Supervisor Peter Crummey.
- General property tax rate increase: 10.23 cents per thousand of assessed taxable value
- Latham Water District tax rate decrease: 0.03 cents per thousand of assessed taxable value
- Median taxable-value home tax increase: 2.13 percent, approximately $13.92 per year or $1.16 per month
A public hearing on the proposed budget will be held at the Town Board meeting in November.
