As originality risks being choked by a growing creative monoculture, cultivating variety will give ideas their own unique flavour, writes Tonight founder, Patrick Duffy.

How many of you are farmers? Well, that’s handy, because I’m going to use a bunch of agricultural metaphors in this article. The inspiration for this was The Omnivore’s Dilemma by Michael Pollan.

is a story about how corn has become the monolithic crop of the modern era, and how the agricultural industry produces countless products that look different but are essentially the same, lacking in basic nutrition.
