A construction company, Dewi Williams Limited, has been fined after a worker fell from the roof of a partially constructed barn in Shropshire.
The incident occurred on 2 September 2023, when the worker, appointed to complete the installation of roof sheets, fell to the ground while attempting to put a roof sheet in place, resulting in significant injuries, including fractures to his ribs and skull.
An investigation by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) found that the company failed to properly plan the work and to put in place measures to prevent or protect against a fall from height.
The company's failure to plan the work and implement safety measures led to the worker's injuries.
