Case of the Bald Tyre
A prosecuting Garda Sgt made a remark in court, saying
“It seems a lot of rubber grew overnight”, when a defendant presented a document showing his front tyre met the legal standard a day after being registered as bald.
Garda Sgt Christy Brown made the comment during the case against Richard Doran, who was accused of driving with a bald front tyre. Doran defended himself, claiming the roadside measurement was incorrect.
