The recent election in the Netherlands has been deemed one of the best days for Europe's centrists in years.
Far-right populist Geert Wilders, who had previously touted leaving the EU, lost nearly a third of his voters after a chaotic 11 months in coalition.
In contrast, pro-European liberal Rob Jetten surged in the final days of the campaign and stands a good chance of becoming prime minister at just 38 years old.
“Many in the Brussels bubble will welcome the rise of a mainstream, pro-govering and reform-oriented party,”
said an EU diplomat, highlighting the potential for a positive shift in the Netherlands' political landscape.
Author's summary: Rob Jetten is EU's dream candidate.
