SIXT Spring 18ft Skiff Championship Disrupted by Strong Winds

The first race of the SIXT Spring 18ft Skiff Championship on Sydney Harbour was abandoned due to strong westerly winds gusting over 30 knots, impacting the 2025-26 sailing season.

Eleven out of fourteen teams attempted to start the race, but only three - Lazarus Capital Partners, Rag & Famish Hotel, and Club Marine - managed to cross the start line after a 30-minute delay.

Despite their efforts, it became clear that sailing the course would be impossible, and the race officials quickly abandoned the race.

No official statement was made, but the conditions were deemed unsuitable for the 18ft skiffs.
