Shuttered RiNo beer brand to be revived in the mountains

Revival of 14er Brewing in the Mountains

A shuttered RiNo beer brand is set to be revived in Poncha Springs under new ownership.

“It’s a great brand for Chaffee County,”

said buyer Derek Heersink, who is leading the revival of 14er Brewing. The brand previously operated at 3120 Blake St. in Denver from 2018 through last November.

Heersink, the founder and owner of Alamosa’s Spare Keg Brewerks, cited the brand's potential in Chaffee County, where there are more 14ers than anywhere in the country, as the reason for the revival.

Heersink, a barley farmer, started Spare Keg in 2017 and is now set to revive the 14er Brewing brand in the mountains.
