Workers at smaller museums are more satisfied than colleagues at the biggest institutions, report finds

Museum Sector Satisfaction Report

A recent report by Museums Moving Forward found that workers at smaller museums are more satisfied than their counterparts at larger institutions.

The report, titled "Report on Workplace Equity and Organizational Culture in US Art Museums", revealed slight improvements in career satisfaction since the inaugural report.

However, issues such as low pay, burnout, and inequity persist, with little change except at institutions where workers have formed unions.

The organisation, launched in 2023, aims to create a more just museum sector through data collection and surveys of museum staff.

Author's summary: Museum workers' satisfaction varies by institution size.
