Thousands of international students in Hungary may face tightened scholarship contracts following a scandal at ELTE University.
A recent incident on October 16 involving historian Alexander Yakobson from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem led to the suspension of his lecture. Security forces failed to restore order, prompting demands for accountability from two ministers and the university rector.
The lecture series, titled "Diverzitás és demokrácia az izraeli társadalomban", is still available on ELTE's website, although only two of the three sessions were attended online due to the disruption.
The disturbance began when students wearing keffiyehs shouted that the lecture was political propaganda supporting Israeli genocide, causing the lecture to be halted.
