Eleven members of former Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia’s opposition For Georgia party took their seats in Georgia’s disputed Parliament on October 28, ending a yearlong boycott.
The move aims to “fight for the survival of free thought” and to “bring another truth in this country to light,” according to party member Giorgi Sharashidze, who announced the decision on October 20.

This decision followed the Georgian Dream MPs’ approval of mandates for twelve new For Georgia MPs in September, after the original twelve candidates’ mandates were terminated due to their prolonged absences.
Other opposition groups had earlier renounced their mandates after the contested October 2024 general elections.
