The brand was founded in 2000 when the Gonzaga family took over three KwaZulu-Natal stores and created a new brand promising fast, fresh, and fearless pizza.

- By 2010, it had grown to over 100 outlets, earning top honors from the Franchise Association of South Africa.
- In 2014, Scooters joined forces with Taste Holdings, introducing the Domino's brand to Southern Africa.
