The August 8, 2025 Washington agreements included a significant provision concerning the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group.
On the same day, the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan signed a joint request to the OSCE for the termination of the Minsk Group’s processes and affiliated structures, prior to the formal signing of the joint declaration by the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan in the presence of the U.S. President.
On September 1, the OSCE Secretariat announced that the OSCE Ministerial Council had decided to dissolve the Minsk Group and its affiliated mechanisms, with the consensus of its 57 participating states.
Only strictly administrative functions would continue until December 1, 2025, to finalize the transfer of property and equipment.
