Artist Francis Bacon, known for his London exploits, had a special affinity for Paris, where he maintained a small studio apartment from 1974.
Following his successful 1971 exhibition at the Grand Palais, Bacon spent considerable time in the French capital, with art historian Michael Peppiatt serving as his guide.
A plaque, installed by the City of Paris, was recently unveiled in the courtyard of Bacon's former studio-apartment near the Place des Vosges, where he lived and worked for 13 years.
Bacon had "a very full existence" in Paris during the 1970s.
In his book Francis Bacon in Your Blood (2015), Peppiatt chronicles Bacon's life and experiences in the city.
Author's summary: Francis Bacon's Parisian residence is commemorated with a plaque.
