Leitrim councillors are seeking penalties for forestry companies that leave trees hanging over public roads.
Cllr Paddy O'Rourke said that on one occasion, it "took them 18 months to come back and cut the outer fringe and only that they did, they would definitely have fallen on houses last January."
Cllr Roisin Kenny suggested that forestry companies should be penalized when trees need to be removed, citing an area where
Cllr Kenny proposed that if the council has to remove trees more than twice in one section of forestry, the company should be charged, as it affects the local budget.
