The San Jose Sharks were on the verge of blowing a third-period lead, but Macklin Celebrini saved the day with a 6-5 OT victory.
Despite dominating the first period 2-0, the Sharks allowed the opposition to score, with Vincent Iorio's high-sticking penalty leading to a Marcus Johansson power-play goal.
A turnover between Tyler Toffoli and Vincent Desharnais resulted in a 2-on-1 Marco Rossi strike, just 32 seconds later. San Jose Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky commented:
“That was our own doing,” … “That’s one big lesson.”
The same pattern repeated itself in the third period, but the Sharks managed to regain their lead.
