Federal Shutdown Impact
The federal shutdown has reached a critical point, with government employees missing their first full paycheck.
Many staff members, including interns and part-time personnel in D.C., are not working or being paid. Additionally, numerous federal offices across the country have ceased operations for most of October due to employees staying home without pay.
According to the Bipartisan Policy Center, more than 700,000 federal employees are affected.
Despite the lack of pay, around the same number of employees continue to work, including essential personnel such as air traffic controllers and transportation security officers, until Congress reaches a deal to fund the government.
