Mark Roman of Solon, a fine woodworker and member of the Global Network Against Weapons & Nuclear Power in Space, comments on the idea of Maine becoming a rocket launch site.
Thom Moore, a retired NASA scientist, argued in a Sept. 17 op-ed that
“a space industry could make beneficial contributions to Maine’s economy and to the national supply of viable launch sites”. However, claims of economic benefit must be weighed against the potential harm to Maine's traditional economy, which relies heavily on commercial fishing and tourism.
