A massive outage of Amazon Web Services (AWS) caused significant disruptions worldwide on Monday.
As a cloud-based computer service, AWS hosts numerous websites for prominent businesses, government institutions, universities, and media organizations.
According to the Associated Press, several users experienced issues with these services.
AWS started investigating the issue at 3 a.m. (ET) and identified a potential cause by 5 a.m. (ET), attributing it to an error with DynamoDB, a system for managing database tables and indexes.
AWS customers include some of the world’s biggest businesses and organizations.
Amazon reported that most systems should be back online and operating normally after the outage.
