A massive outage of Amazon Web Services (AWS) caused significant disruptions worldwide on Monday.
While the outages lasted several hours, Amazon reported that most systems should be back online and operating normally.
AWS hosts many websites for major businesses, organizations, governments, universities, and media outlets.
Issues were reported by several users attempting to access these services, according to the Associated Press.
AWS began investigating the issue at 3 a.m. (ET) and identified a potential cause around 5 a.m. (ET), attributing it to an error with DynamoDB, a system for managing database tables and indexes.
AWS customers include some of the world’s biggest businesses and organizations.
