Rosalia Marie Mott was born on March 31, 1938, in Eureka, to Winnifred Marie Baldy and Elmer Gray George. She passed away on October 13, 2025, at her home in Hoopa.
She was the eldest of three siblings and grew up in Eureka before returning to the family ranch in Hoopa in her teens. Rosalia was a lifelong resident of Hoopa and graduated from school in the valley in the class of 1956.
She was a talented musician, playing the tenor saxophone and piano in the school band. She also played in the family band with her Uncle Ray and Auntie Edith, and occasionally accompanied her brother's band, Merv George Band. Rosalia shared her love of music with her daughter and granddaughter, who both played the saxophone.
