Captain of Ship Involved in Navy SEAL Drownings Sentenced

A Pakistani captain has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for charges related to the death of two Navy SEALs.

Muhammad Pahlawan, the captain of an unflagged vessel, was involved in smuggling Iranian arms to Houthi rebels when his boat was seized by Navy SEALs in January 2024.

During the raid, Navy Special Warfare Operator 1st Class Christopher Chambers, 37, and Navy Special Warfare Operator 2nd Class Nathan Gage Ingram, 27, drowned in the Arabian Sea.

Chambers slipped and fell into the water, weighed down by heavy equipment, and Ingram jumped in to save him but also drowned.

The sentence was handed down by a federal judge on Thursday.
