The Climate Prediction Center of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has released its 2025-26 winter outlook, predicting above-average precipitation in Indiana.
According to the outlook, from December to February, Indiana can expect above-average precipitation, which includes rain, snow, and mixed precipitation such as sleet. However, this does not necessarily guarantee above-average snow.
Temperatures are expected to have equal chances of being above or below average, with no strong signal either way.
NOAA's predictions have been more accurate than the Old Farmer's Almanac and Farmers' Almanac in the area, but still only correctly predicted 3 out of the last 5 winters regarding precipitation in Indianapolis.
NOAA has definitely done better than the Old Farmer’s Almanac and Farmers’ Almanac winter predictions in our area.
