Vet's Clinic Growth in Old Hardware Store Shows Small Town's Resilience

A new clinic that quadrupled in size is set to open its doors to the public, marking a significant milestone for the business.

The Hampden Veterinary Clinic opened a new facility in Cobden's former Martin's Timber and Hardware building in February 2025.

According to veterinarian and clinic co-owner Dr Anthony Down, the decision to expand the Cobden clinic stemmed from the sheer pressure of space.

The clinic has since grown to a team of 25, including 13 vets, across its Cobden and Warrnambool sites.

The clinic's growth is a testament to the small town's resilience, particularly in the face of ongoing challenges such as drought.
