Damacio A. Lopez, a uranium weapons expert and activist, was honored with the International Uranium Film Festival's (IUFF) Lifetime Achievement Award in Berlin.
Lopez, a US Air Force veteran from New Mexico, has campaigned for over thirty years for an international ban on depleted uranium munitions and weapons.
The 82-year-old received the festival trophy at the "Kino & Bar in der Königstadt" in Berlin. According to IUFF general director Norbert Suchanek, Lopez is "probably the world-wide most experienced and most interviewed scholar and activist on uranium weapons."
His newly published dossier "My Last Battle: Ban Uranium Weapons" is a profound investigation of the military use of depleted uranium.
