The 2025 Shanghai Masters was a family affair, with cousins Valentin Vacherot and Arthur Rinderknech meeting in the final.
Vacherot won his maiden ATP Tour title, defeating Rinderknech 4–6, 6–3, 6–3, despite being 150 places below him in the ATP Rankings.
Notably, Vacherot also defeated 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic in straight sets in the semi-final, as well as 14th seed Alexander Bublik and 10th Holger Rune.
He became the first man from Monaco to reach the quarter-final of an ATP Masters 1000 event and subsequently the first Monagasque to win a top-level title.
He claimed the upset of the year, defeating Novak Djokovic in straight sets.
