Province to Change Licence Plate Theme
The provincial government is planning to introduce a new design for licence plates, with a theme of "Strong and Free" starting in 2026.
According to the government, this theme echoes the province's Latin motto and reflects "Alberta's bold identity, economic strength and deep-rooted provincial pride."
The motto's inclusion on the licence plates will also serve as a nod to Canada's national anthem and Alberta's position as a strong and sovereign province within a united Canada.
Until November 15, Albertans can vote online to choose from eight unique designs that incorporate the province's landscape and history.
The current licence plate design has not been changed since 1984.
