A Nigerian man shared his experience of being deported by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in September.
He described being roused in the middle of the night, along with other detainees, and having shackles clasped on their hands and feet.
“It was just like a kidnapping,”
the Nigerian man said in an interview from a detainment camp in Ghana, where he and other deportees were being held.
ICE officers allegedly refused to let them speak to their attorney and instead used full-body restraint suits called the WRAP, also referred to as “the burrito” or “the bag”.
The Nigerian man is part of a federal lawsuit regarding this incident.
