PA Systems and Screens Hacked at Kelowna and Victoria Airports

On Tuesday, October 14, some flights at Kelowna and Victoria airports were delayed due to a hacking incident. The public address systems and screens were compromised, displaying pro-Hamas messages.

The incident started around 5 p.m. at both Kelowna International Airport (YLW) and Victoria International Airport (YYJ). The unauthorized messages were visible and audible throughout the airports.

"The YLW team has successfully removed the unauthorized messaging... It has also restored our flight information display screens and are continuing to work on restoring the PA system."

According to a post on Kelowna Reddit, the messaging lasted for about two minutes and included phrases such as "Free Palestine" and curses directed at the US.

The City of Kelowna stated that the cybersecurity incident was limited to a cloud-based third-party software provider.
