Pro-Hamas Messages Disrupt Airports in Kelowna and Victoria

On Tuesday, October 14, flights at Kelowna International Airport (YLW) and Victoria International Airport (YYJ) were delayed due to a cyber security incident.

The incident, which began around 5 p.m., involved the hacking of public address systems and screens, displaying pro-Hamas messages throughout the airports.

According to the Kelowna Reddit, the unauthorized messaging lasted for about two minutes.

The City of Kelowna stated that the cyber security incident was limited to a cloud-based third-party software provider.

The YLW team successfully removed the unauthorized messaging, restored flight information display screens, and continued to work on restoring the PA system.
