Marine Communications Experts Compete in Thunderstruck

Marine communication experts participated in Thunderstruck, a first-of-its-kind contest testing field radio and combat skills.

A team of four Marines from the headquarters regiment of 1st Marine Logistics Group emerged as winners among 15 squads in the inaugural Marine Corps-wide field communications competition.

The Thunderstruck Communications Team Competition

was hosted by 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, and run by Marine Wing Communication Squadron 38, to test teams of Marines operating radios, networks, and communications gear in the field.

The competition pushed the teams to their limits, with a six-mile track and no turning back, but the winning team proved their skills and emerged victorious.
