Military members in Hawaii are experiencing financial stress due to the government shutdown.
Brooke Millard, executive officer of the Coast Guard Cutter Tall Ship Eagle, recalled the previous shutdown in December 2018 and January 2019, which lasted 35 days and affected morale among her crew.
Military members are required to work without pay during the government shutdown.
