More than 40 Japanese sumo wrestlers will participate in the five-day event in west London.
Fans attending the Grand Sumo Tournament have been warned to be cautious and not get too close to the ring, as they may get squashed by falling wrestlers.
Organisers have also alerted attendees that sand could fly out from the stage during the competition.
