Lagos Govt Denies Authorizing Demolition of Structures in FESTAC Town
The Lagos State Government has denied authorizing the recent demolition of structures in FESTAC Town, stating it was not involved in the exercise.
A statement signed by Mukaila Sanusi, Director of Public Affairs, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, on October 14, 2025, noted that the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, made the clarification.
The state government had no role in the demolitions recently carried out in the area.
Olumide explained that Lagos State maintains a clear and transparent procedure for any authorized demolition, which includes:

- Engagement with affected stakeholders before any structure is removed
