Medical Helicopter Forced to Land at Park in Paradise Valley
A medical helicopter was forced to land at a skate park in Paradise Valley on Tuesday morning.
The Air Methods helicopter, CareFlight 3, was transporting a patient from one hospital to another when it experienced a mechanical issue, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.
- The helicopter landed in a grass field at Paradise Valley Park, near 40th Street and Bell Road, at about 4 a.m.
- Firefighters safely transported the patient to a nearby hospital.
- All three crew members and the patient on board were unharmed, and the aircraft sustained no damage, according to Air Methods.
It was “deemed necessary to land away from the hospital,” said Phoenix Fire Capt.
The cause of the mechanical issue is unknown.
