Signal Mountain Diverts Large Amount Of Cardboard From Landfill

Signal Mountain has a new contract with Waste Connections for garbage and construction debris disposal services.

A total of $9,660 was paid for sanitation billing from July through September, with $3,500 remaining outstanding.

The city has successfully diverted a large amount of cardboard from municipal solid waste, redirecting 14 tons to be recycled. This adds to the approximately 64 tons of cardboard that the city can sell.

This achievement came from 21,306 visits to the recycling center by citizens.

The town is also rebuilding dilapidated sidewalks using a mixture of funding from a TDOT grant and town funds. The public works department is handling the part of the project that exceeded the grant amount.
