Iowa Lakeside Laboratory Expands with New Facility
Construction on a new classroom and laboratory facility at Iowa Lakeside Laboratory is set to begin this fall, marking the first new addition to the property in 25 years.
The 8,000-square-foot building will feature a classroom with a capacity for 150 students, providing year-round learning opportunities regardless of weather conditions.
“Right now, we have one building that is year-round, so this more than doubles our year-round space for classes and gives kids an opportunity to get that hands on education with science and technology,” said Mary Skopec, executive director at Iowa Lakeside Laboratory. “So, we are really excited to get that going for the students.”
The new facility will significantly increase student exposure to water quality testing conducted at the laboratory.
