Markington Woman Sentenced for Drunk Driving
Amy Grant, a resident of Markington, has been sentenced for driving nearly five times over the legal alcohol limit.
Grant pleaded guilty to the offence at Harrogate Magistrates Court on July 24 and returned for sentencing on October 10.
Incident Details
A police community support officer (PCSO) reported Grant's vehicle, a Vauxhall Mokka, driving erratically on July 4 around 11pm, approximately five miles from Ripon.
- Grant's vehicle veered into the opposite lane and towards hedges.
- She narrowly missed colliding with oncoming vehicles, demonstrating a "complete lack of awareness of the road".
Grant was eventually stopped at McDonald's on Harrogate Road in Ripon, where she was arrested.
Prosecutor Sarah Tyrer presented the case, highlighting Grant's reckless driving.
