High Lander and Thai Partners Launch National Drone Delivery Pilot in Bangkok

Thailand has initiated a national drone delivery pilot project in Bangkok, showcasing its progress toward building a nationwide drone infrastructure. The event, titled “The New Era of Drone Delivery,” featured a collaborative effort between the National Telecom Public Company Limited (NT), the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), and High Lander Aviation.

Collaboration and Technology Demonstration

The partnership between NT and High Lander Aviation demonstrated how coordinated unmanned traffic management (UTM) technology can ensure safe drone operations in dense urban environments. High Lander’s Vega UTM platform was integrated with NT’s 5G network, providing real-time visibility, automated flight coordination, and enhanced safety for all participating drones.

Through this integration, operators could track live telemetry, receive automated flight permissions, and avoid potential airspace conflicts efficiently and securely.

Successful Large-Scale Demonstration

During the pilot, dozens of drone deliveries were completed across Bangkok, transporting various payloads such as medical supplies, agricultural products, and consumer goods. The event served as a major milestone in demonstrating the feasibility and scalability of drone-based logistics in Thailand.

“CAAT’s role is to regulate aviation safety and promote the advancement of the aviation industry. Supporting innovation and technological development in unmanned aircraft and related systems is a key part of our mission,” said Air Chief Marshal Manat Chavanaprayoon, Director General of the CAAT.

Author’s Summary

The Bangkok pilot underscores Thailand’s ambition to modernize logistics with drone technology, blending innovation, safety, and 5G connectivity into a scalable national model.
