New Toyota HiLux Leaked Ahead of Official Reveal

Toyota’s best-selling ute has been leaked online just hours before its official unveiling, showcasing a drastically updated design for the new generation. Images posted on Instagram by bfmsoficial—taken from a video originally released before embargo by Auto Societies but later removed—preview the upcoming model’s significant changes.

Design and Exterior Updates

The platform and cabin from the A- to C-pillars remain unchanged from the current model, but the front end features a fresh design. It includes slim headlights, a squared-off grille, and sharper edges that give it a more aggressive look. The rear end also appears tougher, highlighted by a tailgate stamped with the word “TOYOTA”.

Variants and Powertrain

Several versions of the new HiLux, marketed in Thailand as the HiLux Travo, have been spotted:

All variants except the electric version are equipped with a 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine. This engine is believed to be the carry-over “1GD-FTV” unit currently used in Australian HiLux models. Australian government approval documents have confirmed the presence of this engine.

Summary

The leaked images reveal a bold new look for Toyota’s popular HiLux, maintaining proven underpinnings while introducing fresh styling and new variants, including an electric model.
