Former Anderlecht player Anders Dreyer, who joined San Diego FC in January, has been honored as Major League Soccer's Newcomer of the Year.
The Danish forward contributed to 38 goals throughout the season, evenly distributed with 19 goals and 19 assists. His involvement accounted for 59.4% of San Diego FC's total of 64 goals.
In the final rankings, Dreyer surpassed Son Heung-Min, formerly of Tottenham, and Philip Zinkernagel, previously with Standard Liège and Club Brugge.
Votes were cast by the media, players, and clubs, and Dreyer won by a wide margin.
Since his transfer, Anderlecht has felt his absence, with his impressive form becoming a key talking point in both leagues.
Anders Dreyer’s exceptional debut season at San Diego FC earned him MLS Newcomer of the Year, underlining his crucial value lost by Anderlecht.
