Cold Open

The show opens with a New York City mayoral debate. Miles Teller portrays Andrew Cuomo, Ramy Youssef takes on Zohran Mamdami, and Shane Gillis shines as Curtis Sliwa. It turns out to be the funniest cold open of the season and perhaps Gillis’s best performance on SNL.

“I have good brain. I took a cognitive test and I did so well that they immediately gave me an MRI.”

Even James Austin Johnson’s portrayal of Trump worked well here. Let’s hope Mamdami’s potential victory means we’ll see a bit more of Youssef on the show.

Score: 7 out of 10

Miles Teller’s Monologue

Teller delivered a decent monologue with lively energy. After losing his home in the Palisades fire, he seemed more grounded. Interestingly, despite having a film titled Eternity releasing later this month, he didn’t mention it.

Score: 5 out of 10

What Did I Do Last Night?

The first sketch follows a familiar game show format. Contestants, still nursing hangovers, try to recall what happened the night before. While the concept had promise, the execution lacked the clever twist that could have elevated it.

Score: 5 out of 10

Property Brothers

Teller portrays both Property Brothers, assisting the White House with a renovation project. The result feels oddly personal and somewhat mournful—more somber than humorous.

Score: 6 out of 10

Hockey PSA

This sketch surprises by being much funnier than expected, offering brief relief from an uneven episode.

Author’s Summary

The episode captures strong energy from Miles Teller but ultimately highlights Shane Gillis as the standout performer in an otherwise uneven night of sketches.
