Britain Urges Increased Humanitarian Aid to Gaza Strip

British Foreign Minister Yvette Cooper has called for a significant expansion of humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip, describing it as an essential step toward lasting peace in the region.

According to a statement from the British Embassy in Amman, Cooper said that British aid—consisting of food and shelter supplies—is already stocked in warehouses and only awaits permission to enter Gaza.

"British aid, including food and shelter supplies, is ready in warehouses awaiting permission to enter Gaza," she stated, emphasizing that "the Gazan people cannot wait."

Cooper also highlighted the pressing need to open more border crossings and lift existing restrictions to allow the United Nations and humanitarian organizations to expand their relief operations. Her statement aligns with the framework of the US-led peace plan, as reported by WAFA on November 4.

During her visit to Jordan, the Foreign Minister inspected a warehouse containing British aid and praised Jordan’s role as a pivotal hub for coordinating and distributing aid across the region.

Cooper noted that although a three-week ceasefire had enabled some aid to reach Gaza, many critical supplies remained blocked. She added that the scale of humanitarian needs remained immense and required much greater international support.
