Metro Manila has raised its disaster alert to Red, effective 5 p.m. on Friday, as Super Typhoon Uwan intensifies rapidly. Authorities are deploying numerous personnel and heavy rescue equipment across the capital region in preparation for possible Signal No. 4 winds affecting Luzon.
Emergency Measures Activated

Official Statements
“This is our highest state of readiness,” said Office of Civil Defense-NCR Director George F. Keyser during the MMDRRMC emergency meeting. “We are not ruling out Signal No. 4 in the NCR as the volume of rain could be unprecedented, even if the eye makes landfall far north.”
“Even if it’s just wind under Signal 3, we are not exactly sure of the rain volume,” officials added.
