Stephen Curry led the Golden State Warriors with 24 points in a 114-109 defeat to the Indiana Pacers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday. Despite his scoring effort, the team struggled, especially during the third quarter.
Curry acknowledged that turnovers and lapses on defense hurt the Warriors’ chances. He pointed out how giving the Pacers easy fast break points shifted the momentum against them.
“There were a couple possessions… turnovers in the third quarter… you give them a fast break layup. It changes the momentum.”
The Warriors held an 88-82 lead going into the fourth quarter but could not maintain it, as Quenton Jackson scored 12 of his 25 points in the final period. Curry admitted the team made things harder on themselves due to poor organization and lack of energy.
“There are parts of the game where we just… made it too hard on all of us with not getting organized, bad possessions, a little lack of energy. And you give a team like that life.”
As a veteran, Curry stressed the importance of preparing both physically and mentally to perform at the highest level and setting an example for the team.
“Just be professional, understand what you need to do to get your body, your mind ready to bring your best self… you have to demonstrate that, execute it.”
He also reflected on his own role in making better decisions, not only scoring but organizing the team’s play.
“I got to be better just being more decisive, more aggressive, even not to shoot, but to play make and get everybody organized.”
Steph Curry highlighted the Warriors’ defensive lapses, turnovers, and need for sharper decision-making, emphasizing professionalism and preparation despite the tough road loss.
