Five Nights at Freddy's 2, featuring Josh Hutcherson and Matthew Lillard, will hit theaters this December with intense jumpscares. Despite Halloween being over, Blumhouse and Universal Pictures surprised fans by releasing the second trailer overnight, delivering a frightful wake-up call.
The trailer introduces former night-shift security guard Mike (Josh Hutcherson) and police officer Vanessa (Elizabeth Lail) as they try to move past the terrifying events involving animatronic characters that Mike's little sister Abby (Piper Rubio) befriended in the first film. At that film’s climax, these animatronics attacked their creator, William Afton (Matthew Lillard), ending his reign of terror.
However, as a sequel, the story continues with Abby, an 11-year-old, who sneaks out to reunite with her animatronic friends. She soon discovers they have grown even more twisted and are now determined to hunt her, Mike, and Vanessa.
The sequel’s story draws heavily from Scott Cawthon’s original video games, particularly the second and third installments, as the trailer suggests.
