The longtime “Jeopardy!” host and former University of Washington student drew a large audience while presenting his latest book of puzzles. The TV show remains among the most watched in the United States, attracting over five million nightly viewers—thanks in part to Jennings’ intelligence, humor, and down-to-earth personality.
Born in Edmonds, Washington, Jennings spent much of his childhood in South Korea and Singapore. Before entering the world of game shows, he worked as a computer programmer. Over two decades ago, he auditioned for “Jeopardy!” and soon made history by winning 74 consecutive games, becoming the highest-earning American game show contestant.
Jennings’ remarkable performance and approachable nature made him a fan favorite. When Alex Trebek passed away in 2020 after battling pancreatic cancer, Jennings was chosen to carry on the legacy as the show’s host.
A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jennings attended the University of Washington for two years before serving a mission in Spain. He later transferred to Brigham Young University, where he earned his degree.
In August, Jennings returned to the Seattle area to promote his latest collection, “The Complete Kennections: 5,000 Questions in 1,000 Puzzles.” Fans gathered at Third Place Books in Lake Forest Park to hear him speak and to have their books signed.
“The Complete Kennections” marks Ken Jennings’ first new trivia book release in over a decade.
