Many famous individuals have proven that not having a high school diploma doesn't prevent success. Jeremy Allen White, star of The Bear, recently shared a heartfelt story about reconnecting with a former teacher at the New York City premiere of his film Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere.
“I wasn’t a good student because I didn’t go to school enough,” he revealed on the October 23 episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, referring to his time at the city's Professional Performing Arts School, from which he never graduated.
After the premiere, his teacher surprised him with a special gift.
“And I was like, ‘Ah, you don’t have to do this, this is crazy, what are you giving me a gift for?’ And I open it up, and it is my high school diploma. So… at 34 years old, I graduated high school!”
Despite winning two Oscars, Nicole Kidman acknowledges she regrets not finishing high school. The 51-year-old actress opened up about her education on 60 Minutes.
“I’m a high school dropout, which I’m not proud to say,” she admitted. “I had some teachers that I still think of fondly and were amazing to me.”
By age 15, Kidman was focused on becoming an actress and moved to Los Angeles to pursue her career.
These stories highlight how determination and passion can lead to success regardless of traditional educational paths.
